Survey Analysis

Survey Analysis

For my first question i asked that the persons gender was who was answering my survey; i found out that from the 8 people that have taken my survey that 6 of these were girls and only 2 people where male suggesting that my survey could be biased towards females.

As only 8 people have taken my survey so far my results will not be as good as they could be have been as there isn't enough people for a accurate survey yet.

The people who have taken my survey are all of the ages 16-20 so this means that the results i have collected for my CD cover will be purely the results of that age group meaning that i have better primary results from this.
These are a variety of different song types meaning that the age group of 16- 20 year olds like a variety of different types of music including rock, indie and other being goth and rap.
This question shows that the main image to most people is the most important part of the CD cover meaning that for myself to make my own CD cover i must make sure that the image on the front cover is like that of a CD cover you could generally find in a store.
This shows that most people would be willing to spend £2.99 - £5.99 on a CD which the next being the Sale price showing that most people are not willing to spend a great amount on a CD.

How is age sexuality represented in a TV show

The program 'Toddles in Tiaras' shows how children are used as a negative representation however this is very controversial as some people may view this as being okay. The children are used to be dressed up and go and perform on stage as part of their pageant, this shows the children not always being happy.

How class is represented in the newspapers

This states that poor white pupils need best teachers and long days; this is a negative representation of white poor people in schools as this is not always the case alongside this they will not always be under performing. I have identified this because it has been proven that social class does not matter when it comes to how well a student is performing because if they are determined they will work just as well as the child with the highest paid parents.

This shows that the BBC news do not have a positive view of the poor white society and that they feel that every child in this class acts the same way. This is very undermining as suggests that they need longer time and the best teachers which isn't the case.

The Big Bang Theory

How race is represented in TV shows

The Big Bang theory is a stereotypical representation of an india man as 'Raj' in the program  is always talking to his parents on Skype or some form of internet where they are checking up on him and asking about his future and wife etc. This is a stereotyped family for indian people however in the show this stereotype is broken with Raj with him having a metrosexuality where he likes females however his is feminine in his ways. Alongside this he states that he dislikes curry and has a white girlfriend where this is against his religion as he should be dated girls who his mum and dad approve of.

Analysing magazine front covers

Analysing magazine front covers

VOGUE
The main image on this photo is of a mid shot of a women and the colours used are mainly black, white and gold however there is a bright red contrasting colour throughout the cover. The colour red draws in the attention of the audience straight away, this represents the fashion or danger in the fashion industry and also this colour is associated with love showing some women's passion for clothes and the fashion industry.

As the masthead is so well known that the 'G' in VOGUE has been covered by the models head showing that the customers who buy the magazine are likely to buy it on a regular basis. The title in in a bold professional text as the audience of this magazine is women in there late twenties to thirties who work in fashion who are desirable fashion enthusiasts. This magazine is £4.10 a month so therefore the women who generally buy this magazine are of an upper class and therefore need to have a well paid job to afford this.

The cover lines of this magazine show of a brand name 'Coco Chanel' which women of this target audience may buy into, the average price of perfume for this brand is £60-£70 pound at its cheapest and therefore they must have this kind of money. Also the colours are again red and white suggesting that the brand is for women in power as this is a statement colour and is in fashion rather than the traditional pink in which is related to women and girls.

Red has a dominance in paris as well as the cover is from paris so therefore this may be why the colour was used for this cover. The text is very simplistic and there is not much of it as it looks more professional and leaves more to the reader to find out within the magazine as the buyers will usually already know what is it about.

Peaky Blinders Analysis

Peaky Blinders

A Preferred Reading of peaky blinders however could be the people who live in Birmingham as it is set in 1919's England Therefore Birmingham wouldn't have been the same as it is in today's society so therefore they may not be able to relate to this area and representation of Birmingham. They may expect to see certain features in which they may not get to in the program Peaky Blinders.
An Oppositional Reading of this program could be the younger generation and older generation as they cannot relate to the violence in the program. Alongside this they will not commit this crime themselves and feel it is very eccentric.

A Negotiated Reading to this could be the police men of this time as they may not agree with some of the way the police handled with the crime and violence of this program. Alongside this they may the gangsters of the time may not feel this is an accurate representation however they may agree with some of what they do in the show Peaky Blinders.

Charli XCX

Charli XCX

At the start of the video is it clear that the girls aren't wearing the correct uniform as everyone else is very formal compared to them. The girls are wearing very revealing clothes showing the girls are part of some sort of group; also the girls come out of the corridor last showing that they may have been kept behind because of being rebellious. Also other girls are throwing up there papers suggesting the end of there work however they do not have any showing that they do not care about the work they need to do.
The bus driver in the video resembles the famous 'Simpsons' bus driver which is a famous family program. They have used this because it is symbolic of a familiar character where this man in the Simpsons is a 40 year old man however he is still youthful and drives the girls in the video to the underwear store which shows he is rebellious also and wants to 'break the rules' of a stereotypical bus driver. This could also suggest although the girls still aren't adults they consider themselves older which contrasts with the bus driver thinking he is younger.
